Celanese Corp. engages in the provision of technology and specialty materials businesses. The company is headquartered in Irving, Texas and currently employs 13,263 full-time employees. The company went IPO on 2005-01-21. The firm is a producer of engineered polymers that are used in a variety of applications. Its segments include Engineered Materials and Acetyl Chain. The Engineered Materials segment develops, produces and supplies a range of specialty polymers for automotive and medical applications, as well as industrial products and consumer electronics. This segment also supplies acesulfame potassium for the food and beverage industry and a producer of food protection ingredients, such as potassium sorbate and sorbic acid. The Acetyl Chain segment includes the integrated chain of intermediate chemistry, emulsion polymers, ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) polymers and redispersible powders (RDP) businesses, and acetate tow businesses. The company is also engaged in the Mobility and Materials (M&M) business. Its products include polyoxymethylene, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and long-fiber reinforced thermoplastics.
